Saturday 27th January, 2024 - Death’s Door (Issue #151)
Focus on tech this week, trying to take my mind off of anything related to terminal breaths, which is very much a thing and very scary. The world keeps on turning.
Hello and welcome to my newsletter!
Another season 2 instalment…
This week has been a total wash out. Absolutely gastly. I’ve been trying my best to carry on but my body finally said that’s enough, you ain’t moving at all for the next few days. I had this realisation when, in the middle of the night, I woke up and couldn’t breath. It was just too painful. So I tried sitting up. Also too painful. I tried standing. Holy shit was that painful. And basically couldn’t breath either. Lungs felt full of flem, but too painful to cough it up. At that moment I really did feel like I was going to die. As you might imagine this was a little scary.
The entire right side of my body was unbelievable painful. Even just to breath a tiny breath of air was the most excruciating thing in universe. Seriously I’ve been through at lot of painful situations, especially in my younger years, and this was top 5 most painful and scary.
Luckily I found an old iBprofen at the bottom of my bag. About 30 mins after taking that I was able to at least lie down. Since then I’ve been totally incapacitated. Coughing up flem, or trying to because most of the time it’s too painful. The flem tastes like the soup from the final meal I had. It’s been more than 5 days and it still tastes of it. Buttery fennel. The woman who served me that seemed surprised that I wanted soup, odd because soup comes with almost everything here.
I’ve also been able to get some more iBprofen, but almost everything has been a massive uphill struggle. Wouldn’t you know the gang stalkers up their game when you have the ‘bad luck’, as someone referred to it, of becoming ill. Flem, flem, flem and occasionally blood. My right hand rib cage feels swollen. Anyway I’m finally able to walk today. I hope it lasts. Still painful though.
So yeah as you can image I didn’t have a lot of time to prepare this issue. Here are the two latest tech related podcasts that I starred, they’re both pretty great:
Fighting the Algorithm With RSS, Blogging, and the IndieWeb Ep#599 - Some very solid developer weby type discussions in this episode. It’s got a very open web vibe throughout. https://shoptalkshow.com/599
Low-Key Clippy Ep#963 (This Week In Tech Podcast) - Leo Laporte’s voice makes me feel like I’m listening to mainstream media, even when they clearly aren’t mainstream media. There some thing kind of calming about that, plus Cory Doctorow is on, and they have a token english bloke. What’s not to like? Lots of very interesting, important and du jour topics. https://twit.tv/shows/this-week-in-tech/episodes/963?autostart=false
Basically no significant progress in this static site generator this week.
I’m not sure what next week is going to be like, I just feel like I need to rest a lot, which isn’t all that obvious in this place.
I hope things are going better for you all out there.
That’s all from me…
Best reguards,
Mark
