Saturday 19th March, 2022 - Punk Rock Internet
Hello and welcome to my newsletter!
Another season 2 instalment…
A tough week for me with a lot of strong currents that I’ve had to swim against, and just generally a very angry world directed at me, over and over and over again. I’m going to keep this edition short.
I wrote quite a few blog posts:
I think there’s some good stuff in there, some interesting developer things to think about.
Not a huge amount of javascript and tech articles this week, but I did listen to this:
A Brief Overview of Punk Rock (How Stuff Works Podcast)
It’s actually pretty decent coverage, you get a good sense of how the scene evolved over the years. I was struck by how many similarities there are with the development of the early internet.
I’ve been listening to punk rock on and off since the early 90s. Never fully in the scene, but always fascinated by the music and stories. There were several waves before I got “onboarded”. Punk rock re-engineered societies (worldwide), and got us through a terribly difficult period.
I love the diversity, energy, free speech and DIY ethos, and of course the loud guitars.
But you do sometimes need to listen to a bit of EDM to chill out a bit afterwards :)
It’s crazy to think that some people have punk rock parents.
Another acronym, which I learnt about this week: CND
Hope you enjoy.
That’s all from me…
