Saturday 15th April, 2023 - And Then They Cut Off the Podcasts
Another week of great javascript, tech and web development links
Hello and welcome to my newsletter!
Another season 2 instalment…
It’s Monday and already shaping up to be another ‘no newsletter’ week this week.
Last week I was plagued by a very serious mutilation on one of my feet. I could barely walk for most of the week. It was so inflamed from the infection for a couple of days I really thought there was a possibility I might lose some toes or worse.
I managed to get the issue published only to be rewarded for my efforts by my internet connection being dramatically throttled. It hasn’t recovered and it’s been several days already. I have no idea what I did this time. Evidentially something though judging by the number of gang stalker incidents. The number of people shouting ‘no’ and ‘you learn’ as they walk past or drive by on motorbikes has gone through the roof. Everywhere I go.
As I write this a group of people behind me nearby is literally chanting “1…2…3…No!” loudly in unison over and over again. I’m not even making this up.
Anyway it now takes 30 mins just to download a single podcast if I’m lucky. I don’t know what I’m going to do, because podcasts are literally the only thing I have left in life. That sounds pretty bleak but it’s basically true. I can’t go into details about my situation, without potentially putting myself in danger, but internet access was already very bad for a variety of reasons, and I will say that I literally can’t physically stand for the amount of time it takes to download podcasts now.
Also it takes so long to download now that it’s also totally draining all my power, which is very hard to come by for me at the minute. A triple whammy, no bandwidth, no power, no podcasts.
Update: It’s Saturday morning now, things have not gone well this week. Speed tests I have run show my internet connection is quite clearly being throttled big time. Also when I actually try to use the internet outside of a speedtest, the connection gets throttled even more, until most things are impossible. Chrome browser currently doesn’t even allow clicking on things like buttons and some links. I’ve had to change browsers just to write this because I couldn’t get to the substack dashboard. Lots and lots of drive-by and walk-by gang stalker incidents the past 2 days where the attacker simply says ‘No!’ and then disappears. Coincidence?
Once again, I don’t want to leave you with nothing though, so here’s a trio of interesting podcasts, the last three I starred in my podcast app. Thankfully the ones I did choose to download were awesome
There’s a pretty chill javascript programmers one, a more punchy founders & entrepreneur tech one and I also included a monetary system macro economics one because it was so good. All three have very contrasting styles and energy and tackle topics at different levels of the tech world which I think makes the selection very interesting as a whole.
The best thing about podcasting, is that there’s so much variety in every dimension.
